- Dial *155# on your phone
- Select your preferred language
- Select the ‘national health insurance service’ option
- Enter your ID number
- Choose option 1 ‘register now
- Enter your date, month, and year of birth
- Follow the prompts to finish registration of nhif for new members by SMS.
How To Register For NHIF Online
To register for nhif online, you shall use the nhif online registration portal and follow the guide below.
- Visit the nhif self-registration portal
- Enter your national ID number
- Enter your year of birth
- Choose the self-employed option or the employee option according to your status. For the self-employed, skip optioning 6.
- For the employed, enter your employer code, then your employer’s name and kra pin
- Enter your details
- Upload a scanned copy of your ID and a passport photo.
- Confirm your details and finish the registration for nhif online.
- You shall be then given a nhif number

- Visit the nhif employers portal
- Enter your company details as required
- Upload a scanned copy of your company registration certificate
- Upload a copy of your company’s kra pin
- Confirm the details you have provided and submit

Requirements To Register For NHIF
Before you register for NHIF. you shall need the following requirements for the self-employed or the employees.
- A scanned copy of your national ID and that of your spouse for the married
- A copy of your marriage certificate for the married
- A birth certificate in case you have children
- A letter from the employer from the employed
- For the self-employed, you shall pay a registration fee of 1500 shillings which covers your first 3 months after registration.
